R.C.I.C. (Rite of
Christian Initiation of Children)
RCIC is a process to prepare and welcome unbaptized children
and youth (7-17 years) into the Catholic Church.
Who Should Participate?
Children and youth who are not yet baptized participate in R.C.I.C.
Children and youth will be placed in an age appropriate class
for instruction. Special preparation for baptism will accompany
regular faith formation classes.
Requirements
Non-baptized children and youth and their parents or guardians
must attend two baptismal preparation meetings prior to the beginnning
of classes. The two meetings will take place from 9:30—11:00am
on Sundays in September.
Children and teenagers who are not baptized must have a Sponsor
(godparent) who is fully initiated in the Catholic Church and
is an active member of a parish.
All participants must regularly attend Sunday Mass (8:30am) and
class (9:30-10:30am).
Schedule for RCIC
The Sacraments of Initiation for non–Baptized children
and youth will take place during the Easter Vigil. Classes
begin in late September and run each week through April. |
